How to Fix 404 “Page Not Found” Errors in Shopify after importing products – Easy fix!

Recently a client brilliantly managed to migrate his store to a new domain. Still on shopify but different domain name. All was good except, so many of his product pages displayed the 404 error. Products were all valid and active but the product page threw the 404 error.

He got in touch to help. Being a developer, I straight away jumped in to theme files… Wrong call!

Templates! You need to go back to the product configurations in your Shopify dashboard. Scroll down, on the right you’ll see a drop-down list titled ‘template’. Select a template of your choice, save.

Believe it or not, that’s it. The solution. Just a simple configuration missed during the migration… Assign product a Template and you’re good.
